The Therapist's attitude:

  • Do they have an attitude to learn and are they seeking to better their skills? If they do not learn from their experience they do not reap the benefits of experience.

The Therapist's Direct Experience:

  • What experience do they have helping people with the same issues you have?
  • Do they have relevant training to address your problems?

The Therapist's Experience In Their Specialty:

  • Many therapists specialize in areas that require specific training. Some post- graduate training leads to certification but in reality most trainings does not lead to any certification.

The Therapist's Complementary Experience:

  • Their life experience is a factor that enhances their effectiveness
  • Other expereinces that they have that give them insight to your challenge

Other Means That Therapist's Acquiring Experience:

  • Experience is a factor that is greatly enhanced by good supervision. Through supervision a new therapist can increase the positive factors that experience provides.
